About Us

Who we are, where we come from, and where we're headed as a church family

Northcross is a Bible-believing and teaching church located on the North Shore of Auckland. We exist as a community to exalt God, by being equipped to engage the world with the good news. We’re multicultural and multigenerational, and we’d love to meet you.

Northcross is the result of a merger in 2008 between Northcross Community Church and a large proportion of East Coast Bays Bible Baptist Church. While the church is not limited or constrained by its history, nevertheless, that history helps give shape to our understanding of who we are, and the motivation for the merger remains a significant part of our ethos.

Both original churches came from traditions that stressed local church independence within a wider family of churches. That remains true of Northcross, but the coming together was driven by a deep commitment to Christian unity (Gal 3:28). We came together to give witness to the Christian world, and to the society around us, that Christians are one in Christ. Christian unity was the focus of Jesus’ prayer (John 17:20-23) “that the world may know that you have sent the Son.” It provides opportunity for all members to exercise their gifts.

The growing together of God’s people from different generations, cultures and church backgrounds, is a mark of the maturity to which we aspire (Eph 4:11-16).

What’s the bottom line? More than ever, we are committed to fostering a family that exalts God by equipping believers to engage the world with the good news.

EXALT

We exist as a church first and foremost to exalt God. We think glorifying God is the most important and most fundamental requirement of all human beings (1 Cor 10:31), so every time our people gather, this is our focus and our vision.

Call to action: Prioritize Sunday worship.

EQUIP

We also exist as a church to equip fellow believers. In the Great Commission, Jesus instructs his followers to ‘make disciples’ (Matt 28:16-20). We believe this is a shared responsibility amongst all Christians. (Heb 10:24-25, 1 John 1:7)

Call to action: Join a small group and serve.

ENGAGE

Finally, we exist as a church to engage the world with the Gospel. This means seeking meaningful interactions and relationships with unbelievers to share the hope of Christ (Acts 1:8).

Call to action: Making space for meaningful relationships with unbelievers, and inviting to church events.

What does this mean for you? Most importantly, you’re always welcome at Northcross Church. We’re saving a seat for you. Wherever you’re at in your faith journey, you’ll always be accepted as part of the Northcross family.
