“Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.” Hebrews 3:12-14
Sin blinds us and makes us think we’re fine – we overrate ourselves, but the reality is that we all need help. The antidote to this blinding effect of sin is to “exhort one another” – and whilst this can and does happen at a large gathering on Sundays, we believe that this is done at a deeper and more effective level in small groups.
We need brothers and sisters around us who know us personally, know the details of our lives. We need friends who will take the preaching of God’s word on Sunday, and apply it to our specific lives during the week.
As we say at Northcross… the preacher brings the food, and the lifegroup feeds each other.
“Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfil the law of Christ” Galatians 6:2
Faithfully participating in a lifegroup allows us to actually know and bear each other’s burdens as the Bible commands.
Our hope is that everyone who calls Northcross their spiritual home would find a group to be a part of, because we truly believe that faithfulfully participating in a lifegroup has great potential for spiritual formation and soul care.
