The Girl on the Bridge: Surviving suicide, fighting for change, a story of advocacy in action

December 4, 2020 7:00 - 9:30pm  |  Northcross Church

826A East Coast Road, Oteha, Auckland, New Zealand

“The Girl on the Bridge”, is the story of a young woman with the weight of a generation on her shoulders. Having survived her own suicidal struggles, Jazz Thornton is a mental health activist, fighting to change how society and the system are dealing with young people like her. Ultimately this is a film about hope. It’s a film about redemption. It’s a challenge to all of us to try to understand.

At Northcross we’ve been promoting mental health as we see to shape and resource the church and well-being of its people. We want to be a place that is welcoming, engaging, and restorative in the area of mental health as God’s truth and grace are applied in the Christian Life, in our relationships, and in the church.

So, come along this evening to engage in this powerful story as we watch and are then guided by Pastor Mark Wallace (also a practicing counsellor) in small group discussion afterwards. Feel free to invite any one else who might be interested. This is not just an event for the church, but for anyone who wants to dive deeper into the topic of mental health.
